Volunteers are the heart of our Jefferson Community.
Whether you want to help in the classroom, support school events, run an after-school club, or chaperone a field trip, there’s something for everyone at Jefferson. Every contribution, big or small, helps strengthen our school community and enrich our students’ experiences.
Volunteering is one of the best ways to build connections, support our teachers, and create meaningful opportunities for our kids. Whether you have an hour to spare, a special skill to share, or want to take on a bigger role, we’d love to help you find the right fit.
Ways to Get Involved
Join a Committee
Committees meet regularly throughout the year and give you an ongoing way to plug into a specific cause you care about.
Join the SEIC Committee
The Special Education Inclusion Committee (SEIC) helps make FOJ events, programs, and communications accessible for students with a wide range of learning and support needs. The committee works with families and school partners to reduce barriers and help every Panther participate.
Join the JEDI Committee
The JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Committee fosters a welcoming, inclusive school community by celebrating diversity, promoting equity, and supporting initiatives that help every Jefferson student and family feel seen and valued.
Join the Wellness Committee
The Wellness Committee supports Jefferson students' health and well-being through programs, activities, and resources that promote physical, mental, and emotional wellness across our school community.
Join a FOJ Subcommittee
Many of Jefferson's beloved events — Fall Festival, Valentine's Dance, Children's Day, Salsa Fest — are planned by FOJ Subcommittees, including Sponsorships, which brings in vital funding and community partnerships. If you love planning events or connecting with local businesses, there's a subcommittee for you.
Attend a Meeting
Every Jefferson parent is welcome at these meetings — come listen, ask questions, or help shape decisions for our school.
Attend FOJ Meetings
Friends of Jefferson is Jefferson Elementary's parent-teacher organization. We organize fun events on campus throughout the year, fund enrichment like art, garden, and dance, and support our teachers and staff. All parents welcome.
Attend Site Governance Team (SGT) Meetings
SGT is the shared decision-making team between staff, parents, and the community, setting goals to improve learning for every student. SGT decides on budget, staffing, discipline, and more.
Attend School Site Council (SSC) Meetings
SSC oversees academic planning and budgeting for the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Members include parents, community members, administrators, teachers, and staff.
We’d love to have you.
However much time you have to give, there's a place for you at Jefferson. Fill out the form and we'll take it from there.
