You may have noticed that there’s a “Donate” button on our website’s home page. Please click this button and follow the instructions to donate a few dollars to help us out. Go ahead. I’ll wait. Here’s a link to it. It’s quick and easy–you can use PayPal or any major credit card, and it’s tax-deductible.
Still here? What’s that you say? You have a few questions? Okay, okay, I understand. Let’s have ’em.
Q: Why do you want my money?
A: We need all the help we can to further our mission of supporting Jefferson Elementary. There are a number of small expenses in operating this non-profit group, but they start to add up when they are coming out of the members’ pockets. Current expenses include food and childcare costs for our monthly meetings (the meetings are kid-friendly and we always have at least one babysitter on duty); paying for the server and other costs associated with the website; promotional materials (flyers, banners, etc.) and other materials necessary for fundraising activities such as our booth at the North Park Festival of the Arts; maintaining the Literacy Garden at Jefferson, and so forth.
Q: Is this tax-deductible?
A: Yes! (I think I may have mentioned that already.) When you make a donation, we will send you a letter of thanks and receipt. Since we are such a new group, we have only recently applied for tax-exempt status with the IRS. It takes a while for them to process the applications, but we will have our status confirmed by the end of 2014 and will send you a note to that effect, in plenty of time for you to deduct this donation with a clear conscience.
Q: I’d like to help you out by giving you a couple bucks that I would probably just spend on an overpriced, 600-calorie blended coffee drink otherwise; but I really like overpriced, 600-calorie blended coffee drinks. Would it make me a bad person if I just opted for the coffee drink?
A: Yes.
Great. Now you know everything you need to make your decision to help improve the education Jefferson students receive, and help make Jefferson into a school that represents the culture, diversity, and energy of North Park. Here’s that link again…
